Split
A split involves dividing the face value of a share in order to reduce its unit value. For example, dividing the face value by 5 results in the total number of shares being multiplied by 5, and the value of the share being divided by 5.
It can technically facilitate mergers and it does make it much easier for small shareholders to buy th e share.
