"CME" refers to the Chicago Mercantile Exchange which historically was the first futures exchange to trade financial futures, with a particular emphasis and competitive advantage in short-term Interest rate futures and currency futures. CME created the world's first financial futures contracts by introducing futures on seven foreign currencies in May 1972. Following its conversion into a for-Profit-organisation in June 2000, the CME was listed on the NYSE in 2002.www.cme.com
